SUSS Alumni Give Back

For those unfamiliar with the name, it may ring a bell when we mention the SUSS face masks that were up for grabs in January 2022. Sanee Neo Bin Adam Shah is the name and heart behind this giveaway. After spending his time at SUSS, pursuing his Bachelor of Science in Business, Sanee considers SUSS to be “a vital part of (his) entrepreneurial journey”. Hence, when the opportunity arose during the pandemic that struck, Sanee took the chance to give back to the community that gave him an enriching experience by producing masks to help keep people safe in such worrying times.

Plan, Evaluate and Evolve.

This motto allowed for Sanee to always be prepared for the storms that may hit. In this pandemic, the topic of planning ahead and preparing for the worst for one’s business has never been  more important. While never waiting for things to go south, Sanee believes in planning alternative measures, evaluating the current and future market situations, and constantly evolving with current trends. With these actions in place, he stays assured of the future of his company.

Sanee has managed to develop his company’s strategies to upkeep the legacy of it over the years. Admitting that he “would bring back the topics discussed in class to (his) office”, Sanee applied his learning from his Bachelor’s course straight to practice. The accumulated knowledge garnered during his Bachelor’s studies while cannot be quantified, has definitely helped shape the company into what it is today. Sanee recalls the dynamic conversations during project meetings, running late into the night but never giving up with his teammates to finish their assignments despite how exhausted they were. These were the memories that Sanee had built in his SUSS days that made him create a belief in the school’s community, creating a strong connection that did not end upon his graduation either.

Now, Sanee remains as the predecessor of a 24-year old company. While his experience heading Mascot Enterprise Singapore was not always smooth-sailing, Sanee recollects how his blissful start ended up with him having to evolve with the times.  As he had joined the company during its prime, the years following that proved to have its own set of feats as the landscape changed. The market for costume rentals has since shifted over the years. Rather than a 3-day costume rental for $100, consumers now turn to cheaper online alternatives that sell the same costumes for $20. As a result, Sanee and his team had to relook their main revenue model and innovate to stay relevant in the current industry. With that, they remain standing, strong and tall till today.

Here’s to Sanee and his team for giving back to the SUSS Community and here’s wishing them all the best for their future endeavours!
