In conjuncture with SUSS Giving Day, SUSS Alumni Relations organized the invigorating #Walk2gathAR Challenge. This initiative was designed to rally our alumni community, along with their friends and family, in a collective effort to clock 200km and raise $2,000 for the SUSS Better Together Challenge 2023. In essence, it was an inspiring endeavor to #Walk2gathAR in the name of social good.
With the aim to bolster the SUSS Alumni Lifelong Education Fund, our alumni community embarked on diverse routes across Singapore from 25 April 2023 to 4 August 2023. This fund focuses on empowering part-time graduates as they pursue lifelong learning while making positive contributions to their families, workplace, and society.
Amidst other walks that happened in the span of July to August, our last stride took place on a beautiful sunlit Saturday morning, 22 August 2023. We gathered at the Starbucks of Jurong Lake Gardens, fueling up for our walk with steaming cups of coffee and delectable pastries. The atmosphere buzzed with excited chatter as our alumni seized this change to reconnect with old friends.
Along the way, we were treated to scenic views that eased the journey. Despite the unrelenting sun, casual chats about life and the motivations behind joining the walks kept us moving forward purposefully, as we braved the intense heat “2gathAR”.
Our alumni are all smiles under this heat
As we walked side by side in camaraderie, I was reminded of the walks that were fulfilled by fellow alumni in the previous weeks. After an entire month of collective effort, the SUSS alumni community accomplished a remarkable feat, covering a total distance of 210 km and raising an impressive sum of $3,005. It was truly humbling to reminisce how all of us walked different paths post-graduation yet converge as an alumni family with 52 members coming together to realise this worthy challenge.
It fills me with pride to have been a part of the #Walk2gathAR Challenge, knowing that I have done my part in moving society towards social good.
